Description |
My family is relocating to Belgrade, Serbia in August and we would like to learn some basic Serbian before we go. We are complete beginners but do speak several Latin-based languages so we have experience in learning additional languages. We will be in Houston from June 28 - July 28 and would like classes on a daily or every-other-d ay basis, preferably between 9am and 3pm. We want a teacher that is strict and serious and will give us homework as we are very serious about learning Serbian before we move there.

Description |
I will be spending a year in Serbia, beginning September 2013. I would like to learn the language well enough to travel around on my own and be understood and to understand. I'm at the beginner level. I'm using Ronelle Alexander's 'Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, A Grammar with Sociolinguist ic Commentary' and 'Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, A Textbook with Exercises and Basic Grammar'. I'm struggling with the grammar and I could benefit from some conversation.
I will dedicate at least an hour a day to study...more if I feel I'm making good progress. I want to speak fluently, but I understand that probably won't happen until I'm immersed in the language and living in Serbia. I do, however, want to be able to read and write fluently by September 2013. Tall order? I don't know.
I'm looking for someone who is very good at explaining the subtleties of the language and who has a good vocabulary. Someone who gives assignments and who will then work with me in the areas I have most trouble with. Creativity and patience would be good qualities to have too.

Description |
I am a former U.S. military service member. I was fortunate enough to have studied at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. I graduated from a 48 week intensive basic Serbian and Croatian program. I am no longer in the military and would like to upkeep and become better in the language. It would be unfortunate if I lost all of my Serbian and Croatian langauge skills.

My soon to be husband is Yugoslavian and he is from Yugoslavia before it was broken up, I need to know how to speak the language. I understand there are possibly 4 dialects to learn and I am open to learning all of them if necessary. I am definitely a beginner, he tries to teach me by speaking to me but it seems too confusing. I want to be able to hold a conversation fluently. However much time is needed, I am patient & would appreciate the teacher to be the same.

Description |
I am learning both serbian and russian right now. I have been taking classes at the beverly hills linguistics institute for several months. I am at the beginner level in both languages. I need extra help distinguishin g between the 7 cases right now, as in when I say something which case should I use when forming sentences. Why, you use certain cases (and which case) in certain circumstances is what I need to know for my speech and writing to be grammatically correct. I only know about 100 words in serbian right now so try to use common words a beginner would know. I only know present tense (biti) so far and only verbs and nouns, I will be learning adjectives soon.
I want a tutor that will already have lesson plans prepared before they show up here and leave me with homework to practice after they leave. I will purchase 1 hour of private lessons to start with and if I see results then I may want more lessons later on. Please have the lessons in latinic as I can read it faster, I read cyryllic slow.
