beginner, my husband is Indian and speaks Punjabi, I have been to India once and learned only a few phrases and want to learn more; I want to start the process of learning this Fall 2007 if possible and learn some basics to start with. I am a visual learner and learn by practicing in person with someone else.

I went to a Sikh boarding school for three years in Punjab, but learned very little Punjabi because of the prominance of English speaking students. I'd say my proficiency level is beginner, but because of my exposure to the language, I could learn very quickly. I can read and write fluently. I'm learning the language because I'm a Sikh and think I should be able to speak in that native language. I need improvement in conversationa l skills, sentence structure, and spelling. I would like to dedicate at least three days a week for however extended amount of time to work around my working schedule. I would like a teacher who speaks proficient English and has an enthusiastic approach to teaching the language.
