Hello, my name is Damian and I am searching for a Finnish language tuitor to teach me the merits and intricacies of Finnish language.
I'm very interested in Finnish language, culture, people, music and customs and am currently organising to travel on formal exchange with my university for either a year or one semester (six months) over to Finland in about 2 years time. Travelling on exchange is something I've always wanted to do not only to further my career but to experience an entirely different way of life and from what I've seen so far I find Finland very intriguing for a number of reasons. However it is very difficult to find a Finnish language course even in this capital city and thus finding a private tuitor is most desirable. I'm only a beginner so far but am willing to spend a significant amount of time in learning and progressing to a mastery or near-mastery of the language and this is something I want to accomplish before I travel overseas in a few years. Time for my lessons would only be limited by my study at university and part-time work commitments. Preferably I am looking for a tuitor that can offer me weekly lessons for a prolonged period, probably from a year to 18 months(howeve r long is necessary to gain an understanding and mastery of the language). I'll probably require a teaching of all facets of the language - grammar, conversation, writing, cohesion. It'd be fantastic if I could find someone familiar with the Finnish culture and way of life (who is Finnish or who has lived in Finland), as their experiences and world-view would be of great use in learning, understanding and enjoying the language. Hi,
My name is Ellen Ward and I'm first generation Australian from my mothers side, who migrated to Australia from Finland in the 1960's. My mother has never taught me the Finnish language but i have been brought up with Finnish & Australian culture. My mummi is currently teaching me very basic Finnish, but i have ambitions to become fluent in the language as i now have dual citizenship with Finland and have plans to move over there for a period of 6-12months in 2008 on a traineeship program with horticulture and would love to learn the language so i have enough to get by with when i go over there. I would love to speak fluently and write fluent Finnish and i'm prepared to dedicate several hours a week to learning it wether that is mainly through emails and a couple of sessions on the phone i dont mind. I was also wondering if you might know of any people or places in Perth, Western Australia that teach the language?
I'm basically looking for a teacher that has patience, is fun and friendly and has time for people :-)
