I am looking for a teacher in the Point Loma area to teach my two daughters Japanese starting late May. They are high school students. It is possible that two of their friend might wish to join the class. They are all interested in Japanese culture and just wish to do this for fun a few times a week through the summer.

My mother is Japanese and every year or so we will travel to Japan to visit my grandparents. Unfortunately I don't know Japanese well enough. Only basic things such as directions, numbers, or random animals. I would like to learn more to make my future trips more enjoyable. Plus learning a second language would be helpful in my career field.

I am a beginner in Japanese language. I am fond of watching English subtitled Japanese dramas and anime and from that I have learned a little Japanese (common phrases). During high school I became interested in Japanese culture and because of that I hope to visit Japan someday. I would love to learn their language so that I would be able to understand their culture more . Learning the language would also help me in expanding career opportunities .
My goal is to be able to converse well in Japanese. I don't know exactly how long would it take for a person learning a new language to do that so I would like to hear suggestions/c omments from teachers about this.
As for the qualities I am looking for in a teacher, I would like someone who is hardworking, patient and is really concern about you learning the language.
