I would like to learn French because it would help me professionall y (I work as a pediatric cardiologist in Hamilton, Ontario). Canada has two official languages, and I already learned English (my native language is brazilian portuguese), so now I'm ready to learn French. I had some French classes during high school a long time ago (more than 20 years... yes, I'm in my mid forties...) As background information, I am always interested in listening to people speaking French, either live, on the radio and on TV, whenever I can. I don't understand much yet, but I pay attention. I would like to dedicate at least 2-3 hours/week to learn French, which currently I think would be possible (at least for the next 6 months). I'm looking for a teacher who could facilitate my learning over the internet, who could guide me through how to go about learning French by myself with a little help. I would like to learn mostly conversation and grammar for now. I would like to find a teacher who would be willing to obtain results. I would like to learn Canadian French to be able to communicate well in Quebec (in case I end up working as a pediatric cardiologist there). I think I would be an easy student, because my native language is brazilian portuguese, which shares many similarities with French.
