I am a beginner, I know very little conversationa l Japanese. I know a little bit of general etiquette as well as pronunciation . I need to learn the language because my plan is to go to Japan and further my study of martial arts and medicine. I will dedicate as much time as is available to me. I am very dedicated to this and am a fairly quick learner. I need to be able to speak the language fluently, and in a respectable way, as soon as possible.

Although I studied Japanese in University of Montreal for three years between 1992 and 1995, I consider myself as a beginner who might become intermediate quickly. My job is bringing me to Japan in February and May 2008. I am interested in improving my conversation skills to be able to negotiate with my Japanese counterparts and be comfortable in having a day-to-day conversation. I would like a 3-hour/week private lesson with a teacher who has formal training in teaching Japanese.

I'd classify my level of Japanese language proficiency as Beginner, however I do experience and familiarity with basic grammar structures, the Hiragana and Katakana, and the Kanji.
I feel the areas I need the most improvement in are vocabulary and the reading/writi ng of Kana and Kanji. Pronunciation is not an issue.
I begun learning Japanese out of fascination of the country and culture, but now it is moreso to further my goal of teaching English as a second language. I figured since I was already familiar with Japanese, and seeing as Japan has a high demand for English, I may as well teach ESL in Japan.
I'm looking to spend a fair amount of time on learning Japanese, while keeping in mind a full-time job and other activities. As far as lessons go, preferably they would be structured well and balanced, covering all areas of the Japanese language, but also in person and maintaining a a casual, low-intensity learning environment.
