I am a beginner. I am married to an Egyptian for 5 years now and feel it is time to finally learn his language and the language of his family. Therefore, I would like to concentrate on conversation but do not want to ignore grammer nor the written language. It is possible we'll move to Egypt within the next couple years and I'd like to be prepared if we do. In the meantime, I'd like to be able to converse with my in-laws by phone and to surprise my husband!
I 'm thinking one in-person lesson per week supplemented with teaching materials will be sufficient. I would keep this schedule until I gained a certain proficiency and then, perhaps, increase the frequency if it would help me learn faster.

My proficiency level would be as a beginner. I am planning a trip to the Ukraine this summer and I need/want to speak the language. The area that I would like to focus on is the conversation part of the language and I would like to dedicate 3 days of tutoring per week until I feel comfortable. I need someone who is patient. I would also like to start from the beginning. In other words start with the alphabet and work my way up into words, sentences and then conversation.

I speaking english naturally and cantonese some what naturally. I took mandarin in high school for two years and consider myself to be at a high beginner/low intermediate level. The reasons i want to learn mandarin are to learn my own language and help me in the future in my career. I'm willing to dedicate some weekday nights and weekend time to improve my mandarin.
