I have started learning icelandic a few months ago, using books and the internet. I have a very basic knowledge of the language and I would like to be able to have a conversation with an icelandic native speaker. I would like to go and live over there in a few years. I will need more grammar and more vocabulary and my comprehension is very poor... I would like to be able to practice icelandic once a week or every two weeks if possible. I am looking for a nice and patient teacher who will try to help me in an relaxed atmosphere.

I know only the handful of words and phrases I picked up during a visit to the island last winter, and would love to know more before I return again for vacation in late summer. My brother came to Iceland 1,5 year ago. he is going to icelandic school, but until now he doesn't understand anything during lessons. he is going to some icelandic courses, but he is still in the beginer level. at school they are learning difficult things, so he cannot understand anything. so we are looking for someone in Reykjavik who speaks icelandic and could help him with homeworks (to translate tasks and materials)and at the same tame teach him icelandic.
