I am a beginner and I will be in the Philippines for the summer. I have always wanted to learn Tagalog and I will have a lot of time to do so when I am there. I am interested in learning Tagalog, I have many Filipino friends although I do not speak Tagalog at all. Ideally I'd like to have one class a week on the weekends. I need a teacher who is patient although I am a quick learner and have picked up other languages very quickly.

I've had up to Intermediate level studies in Japanese; 3 terms in College. I have also taken Kanji courses to an Intermediate level as well (3 terms). However, this was over one year ago and I have lost most of my skills in the language. My aim is to be able to pass the JLPT level 3 as easily as I can. I am very much interested more in conversationa l and comprehension skills as I lacked these back when I was studying.
I want to dedicate as much time to relearning Japanese as possible, but I also want to take Tagalog in stride. I say this because of my interest in wanting to be in the Philippines for an extended time as well as me being of Filipino ancestry.
What I'm looking for is just a friendly way of communication in either language. I am also looking for a patient teacher as I can become quite slow at certain things.

Both languages are for career advancement with the added motivation that my wife is from the Philippines. I need grammar improvement for Tagalog; and I am starting Mandarin from scratch. I will dedicate as much time as is required.
I want a teacher who enjoys what they do and encourages me to use the language as I am sometimes conscious of my errors.
