I have taken the begining course of Japanese 101 as a continuing educational study at Rice University. However, it has been quite a while since I last attended and though I can still recall how to read hiragana and katakana, I really can't remember much other than a few words and phrases. In many ways I will be working from scratch. My classes at the Art Institue of Houston keep me fairly busy with projects, though I'm sure that will not be a problem considered my drive to learn Japanese. Ive been anxious to learn the language since I was 15 and still hope to be fluent oneday.

My proficiency level is beginner. I would like to learn this foreign language to better myself and to advance in foreign languages. I would first like to learn how to speak the language then the grammar. I would like to dedicate as much time as I can to learn the language. I would like to start now until mid or late June, then I must travel to Germany for 6 months but I would like to continue my lessons upon my return in January 2005. The qualities that I look for in my teacher is that he/she is a native speaker and is patient with the student.

I am graduating in May from university and will be moving to Houston - I have never studied Japanese before. I am interested in learning because my boyfriend will be stationed with the Navy in Japan and I am hoping to join him there in 2 years. I would like 1-2 hourly lessons a week starting in May in or June, either private or in a group. Thanks!!

I am a beginner who grew up with a deaf brother and I will like to learn Sign language so I can communicate officially with people with hearing difficulties at work and other settings. Any assistance provided will be valued and more importantly, passed on to others with a similar need in the future.
