I was born in the states, but my parents are vietnamese. I did not grow up in a vietnamese community so I have a hard time communicating with friends and family in vietnamese. Beginner - I have started teaching myself some very basic phrases with the use of a CD.
I'm very interested in language learning - I'm currently an ESL teacher. I am going to Vietnam for a short holiday. Also, in the long term, I'm interested in teaching in Vietnam.
I am interested in learning conversationa l Vietnamese but this doesn't preclude the grammar!
I can practise about 30 mins a day and I'd like to have one lesson a week.
I'm looking for a friendly native speaker of Vietnamese with experience in language teaching.

I am a complete beginner, having just arrived in Hanoi yesterday, August 20th. I would like to learn Vietnamese because I will be in Vietnam for the next year and would really like to be able to communicate and find my way around the country. I am looking to take between 2-3 language lessons a week, but am committed to studying on my own as well. I am looking for someone who will be patient with me, flexible with arrangements and organized about guiding my language studies.
