I am currently at a beginning level of speaking Portuguese. I have purchased the 'Teach yourself Portuguese' Book and CDs to help me. I have also purchased a grammar and a '501 verb' book to assist with my endeavor. I can dedicate three to five hours per week on Portuguese lessons. I need some assistance in learning to improve my conversationa l skills. Right now, I understand a few words that are spoken to me and I need to improve that, as well as my pronunciation .

I am a beginner who understands little Spanish beyond numbers. I am involved with a bilingual woman from Puerto Rico and want to learn the language out of respect for her and her family. 1. studied for two months. know the characters and basic vocabulary. also know everyday language in the most basic terms. (lived there and can get around fine)

5. a) good use of class time. for example, i don't think doing work during a session that i could do on my own is very useful. b) preparation. lessons should be well-planned c) knowledge of teaching strategies, not just of the language
