I am trying to learn how to read and write in Cantonese so that I can communicate with other people on the Internet who can help me with my linguistic research. I know how to read a lot of words, but there are still a lot of words I do not know. There are a lot of phrases, especially formal phrases, and more literary phrases, older phrases that people don't use much anymore that I have not heard of and do not understand. However, I would like to learn them.
I grew up in Canada from a family with a Cantonese background and have some trouble memorizing the shape of Chinese words and choosing the right one for the right context.
I would like to spend one hour a week to learn. I am looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching Cantonese. If possible, I would also like to ask questions about older Chinese dictionaries, and I want to understand the classic poem with 1000 words.

*I want to learn cantonese because My parents are chinese but i live here in the philippines. I want to work and live with my parents who are now in hongkong.
*I know mandarin and fookien, not that fluent i went to school that has chinese in it but sadly i didnt learn much.
*I'm a beginner in cantonese i want to learn everything i want to be fluent with the language.
*2 a week, since i have a class everyday hopefully i got morning sessions. Because i have night class.

I want to learn Cantonese to better connect with my family.
I would say I'm a little better than a beginner. I can listen to some casual conversations about certain topics, but my vocabulary and grasp of grammar concepts is tenuous at best.
I want to improve by learning vocabulary and improving upon my sentence structures.
I want to dedicate perhaps an hour a week to language lessons. If the teacher recommends more I will consider this.
I want my teacher to be knowledgeable , and capable of helping me improve my ability to speak the language (get the pronunciation correct!).
