Beginner. I have been practicing Aikido in Houston for almost three years and I find the Japanese culture to be quite fasinating. I have wanted to learn a second language for some time now and figured Japanese would be the best place to start considering my current interests. I would like to start with an hour a week, and willing to put in outside practice with other speaking persons during the week. In having talked to several people about lessons, I feel it important to learn how the language works rather than memorizing names of animals and pronouns. I am not looking to learn Japanese overnight, so all of the 'fast' Japanese courses do not interest me.

i am a beginner. i wish to learn japanese because i have always enjoyed everything made by the japanese (i.e. anime shows, some food, video games, etc). since i have never taken any course dealing with japanese, i would need improvement in all fields :). I would like to learn the langauge as soon as possible, with consideration to my schedule and the teacher's. As long as the teacher is friendly then i wouldn't have any problems.
