I am a seminary student who will be spending June and July of 2004 in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. I would like to get a head start on learning Hebrew before I must take a class at the seminary this fall. My goal is to read the Old Testament in Hebrew, so I am looking to learn Biblical Hebrew. I have no experience with the language, only a desire to learn more about my faith. I would very much like to pay a teacher to meet with me once a week to work on Hebrew lessons, and I would be more than willing to do homework assignments in between our weekly meetings. I am trying to learn hebrew in order to speak successfully on my trip to Israel this summer. I am only interested in learning conversationa l hebrew, not writing or grammer. I wish to dedicate a few hours a week to these studies. I want, aobve all, to be able to converse in hebrew effectively. Proficency Level: Beginner (though have a tiny bit of knowledge from studying the Old Testament and association with people interested in Jewish people in Israel.
Wh y learning: I have a dream of going to Israel one day, but I would like to be able to read and speak the language when I get there. I have a great interest in language of any sort.
Area s of improvement: All.
Dedic ation: depends on the cost. Whatever the teacher feels is the optimum amouont of time to spend to learn effectively.
Teacher's Qualities: Prefer native Jew and/or Christian, but I'm not concerned either way. Prefer female, but not fussed especially.
Lesson's quality: prefer classroom situation, but whatever suits. I'm no good with online/corres pondence.

I am a beginner who has had two semesters of Hebrew language lessons. I want to learn for more my own personal reasons. I am currently studying communication s and languages are becoming more of an interest. I would like to dedicate as much time as needed to get a grip and a full comprehension , and handle to speak fluently this language.
