Description |
To whom it may concern, I live and work in Brisbane Australia and am looking for opportunities to learn to read, write and speak Armenian. My father is Armenian and emigrated to Australia in 1964 from Cairo. He has forgotten most of his Armenian as 'assimilation ' was the key to a happy childhood when he arrived with his family in Melbourne. I have a deep love of languages and studied French, Spanish and German at university. I have always been fiercely proud of my Armenian heritage and returned recently from a 'World Reunion of Armenian Schools of Egypt' tour in Armenia with my father. It was the first time for both of us. This trip reinforced my desire to become at least moderately proficient in the language of my ancestors, simply for the pleasure and challenge of it. Having said that, it is my wish that I will return to Armenia in the next few years and it would be wonderful to communicate in Armenian.

At family gatherings i hear my family speaking in there language and i feel lift out, i love my family and am so proud from where my father comes from but he does not seem intrested in teaching me the language how to write or even the history of his homw town. i have tried on my own but is so hard to make sence of it when you dont have a clue what anything sounds like... i have asked my granmother to help but she gets frustrated easy with me for she has suck a thick accent and i seem to say it wrong so she gave up on me. i have searched the net though there are different ways to write in armenian i got confused all i know is he came from yerevan..... i want help
i would like to dedicate as much time as 3 days a week if possible and depending on price.... immediate start preferably. i am looking for a teacher who is willing to teach me without getting too frustrated as long as u have a great attitude i am happy

Description |
I am currently learning Armenian on my own and with a little bit of help from people around me. I would consider myself a beginner i can manage to get along with asking for my basic needs like food, drinks,w ashroom etc. My goal at this time is to speak fluent Armenian... one of the reasons is because i'm going to be marrying into an Armenian family and would like to carry on the language to my own children (God willing, when thats time comes). Another reason is that i just want to challenge myself!!! I'm willing to dedicate at least 10 hrs a week with a teacher.
