My proficiency level is beginner, and a friend of mine who wants to learn with me is intermediate. I want to learn Japanese because I am going to apply to the Jet Program for 2007. My partner is planning on spending a lot of time in Japan while I am there and has been teaching herself Japanese on and off for 5 years. I am a beginner, I have been to China twice once for 3 weeks and once for 6 weeks, I know a few words and phrases. I am planing on moving to China in the near future and would like a good foundation of the language when I go.
I would also like to learn to read and write the language. I would like 1-2 lessons per week.

I am a beginner at Mandarin Chinese. I have taken and absorbed Pimsleur's unit 1 but I have no written experience.
I am 26 years old and am currently a CPA with a big accounting firm.
I am learning Mandarin for my own betterment and for possible career advancement down the road.
