I'm just starting to learn Arabic and I used to take a course in Iran however I believe that I've forgotten everthing therefore I would like to start from the beginning. I wonder why there is different types of Arabic in thsi language school program because I believe that they do not differ much, in general I want to learn Arabic of any kind. I also want to meet up with the teacher and not ommunicate over the net or phone. I would like to learn Arabic because I have a passion for learning foreign languages. During my lessons if possible I would like to have worksheets, books and homework so I can study at home as well. Finally, I would like to take classes once or twice a week so that I can have time for my school as well.
The reason that I would like to learn Japanese is because we are going to have a japan exchange in school and it would be good to know a little about the language and culture. However I have no knowledge of this language. The rules of my Arabic learning also apply( eg. in person, homework, 1/2 days a week etc...)
Fi nally I would like to learn korean because I've been really inspired by all my friends and the writting seems very easy! I have a very very little exprience with this language.

I am studying standard Arabic using the Rosetta Stone program, which is wonderful. I will be able to learn spoken Arabic on my own, I believe. I had learned German years ago while stationed there by listening and repeating. I am looking for help with written Arabic, i.e. how the letters connect, pronunciation of letters in different parts of the word, etc.
I study about 2 to 3 hours a day at present and am gradually increasing the study time to, hopefully, about 4 hours a day. I would like to learn it as quickly as possible without burning out! I am self-motivate d and am looking for interaction with a teacher as well as any books the teacher may feel are helpful. I am a beginner. I'm learning the language as a means of personal growth and mental flexibility and may want to pursue a career using Arabic in the near future.
I do have a have a restriction on how far I am willing to drive within the metro area.
I've been using the Rosetta Stone program for about 6 weeks and in reviewing my progress, the reading is defintely the most difficult aspect for me.
I envision working with a teacher once a week--althoug h this is open--absorbi ng as much as I can, then working on my own at home practicing what I have learned from the teacher and using any books the teacher may recommend.
I only plan to work with a teacher long enough to learn to read Arabic. However, this may change as I get into it. I may see that working with a teacher really increases the learning rate--or I may not. I stated the above simply to be 'up front' about it.
