I have had a longstanding yearning to learn the Greek language. In the past i have bought cd's nd books to try to grasp the basics. However i now realise that i need the structure offered by either one to one tuition or in a small group. I require to be set targets and to access someone who has an understanding of the difficulty i have in self motivation!
I am in my 40's now and if i don't do it now i fear i will miss out on a lifetime goal.
I would like to start at the very beggining with basics and would prefer lots of instruction on spoken greek before i get my head around a lot of written Greek language.

I am interested in learning conversationa l Greek. I am a beginner. I want to learn because my fiance is Greek and lives in Athens, Greece. Most of his family does not speak English and I want to learn so I can communicate with them. I am willing to dedicate 2 hours per week for lessons.

Speaking the language - I am a beginner. My vocabulary and grammer is probably at an intermediate level. I have gotten some extensive CD courses, gone to a Greek school at a Greek Orthodox Church for weekly for about 9 months, and read about 4 or 5 'learn Greek' books. Unfortunately , I do not have anyone to speak Greek with. So my oral skills are lacking, and I need to develop an 'ear' to listen to spoken Greek and understand it.
My wife's father was Greek and she has a large Greek family in Greece and also in Australia - she does not speak any Greek. We have traveled to Greece several years ago, and I was able to make myself understood but with difficulty. We would like to do more traveling in Greece in about a year, and are considering retiring to Greece at least for part of each year.
I need a tutor that I can meet with at least weekly to develop my speaking and listening skills - to begin with I will need to brush up on my vocabulary, but I expect that will come fairly quickly.
