I was first introduced to the Dari dialect of Farsi during my time in Afghanistan and was tutored by a native Pashto speaker. My level in the language is extreme beginner, but after struggling with Arabic for the past 5 years and visiting with an Afghan friend recently, I realize that I have had a much greater retention of the Farsi that I learned. I would like to start again in learning the language in the hope that it will aid me with future employment as well as being a starting platform to resume study in Arabic. I am willing to spend as much time on learning as possible, with the only limitations being financial.

I have grown up hearing Farsi my entire life, but my father never taught it to me. I only speak English right now, but I would really love to eventually be fluent in Farsi since it is what a lot of my family speaks. I need a teacher who can speak decent English and will be patient with me as I learn a new language. I would like to learn how to speak it, write it, and understand grammar as much as possible. I am only available in the evenings, but I am willing to put a good amount of time and effort into this.

I am definitely a beginner with very little exposure to the actual language. I want to learn Farsi because I plan to go to Iran next summer and want to be able to immerse myself in the culture. I am also a journalism major and believe knowing Farsi will aid me me in my career as I want to travel Iran in detail. I am very dedicated to the idea of learning Farsi and will put in as many hours as I need to in order to do so. All I ask for in a teacher is that they are patient with my as I feel Farsi is a very difficult language.
