I am a beginner in Tagalog. Both of my parents are Filipino and fluent in Tagalog. Growing up in Canada, I was not receptive, nor interested in learning their native language and now I regret it. I find it embarassing to not know how to speak Tagalog, especially when I visit the Philippines and everyone assumes that I understand or speak the language.
I would like to be able to have a conversation in Tagalog and have good comprehension .
I am willing to commit to one lesson every week.
I am looking for a teacher who is flexible, practical, PATIENT and has a great sense of humor.

I'm interested in learning Tagalog. I would like to be fluent (at some point) and I'm wondering how many lessons would be necessary. I can dedicate 4 hours a week (once a week). I only know a couple of words, and would like to be able to have a conversation, as well as understand, my boyfriend's family (who is Philippino). I am fluent in Portuguese and have knowledge (and some understanding ) of French, Italian and Spanish.

Hello, KUMASTA...i have learnt the very basic of basic when it comes to tagalog i can count to 5 etc...i would really like to learn it enough to make it conversationa l...when it comes to my language skills i pick up really fast, and tend to move at a faster pace than most so private is generally better for me. I have a lot of Filipino friends and my partner is also filipino which helps i just dont want to be a burden. I am planning on going to the Philippines in July of 08 and regularly visits after that.
