I am a beginner in both languages. I would like to have young teachers so that we could have more things in common. As well I would like my classes to be not so formal, i.e. to have a coffee, hang out or watch a movie instead of being in a classroom with a blackboard and everything (of course, it will be necessary from time to tiem). I am starting from a little above beginner. My wife and I lived in China for about 11 months.
We want to go back to China to live someday. We need Mandarin. I would like to be literate at about the grade three level in both writing and reading.
I think 1-4 hours a week plus homework is the range of time I can dedicate towards it.
I would like my Chinese tutor to give me a good language base so that I could follow and participate in everyday, but specific, Mandarin conversations . I would also like to read basic public signs.
