I studied Egyptian Arabic for one semester in college but have since forgotten most of it, so I would consider myself a beginner. My father is Egyptian and I have always wanted to learn the language, which is why I wish to study it now. I am currently a graduate student at Northwestern University and have a lot of time to devote to studying the language. I would prefer to have a mix of in-person meetings with some reinforcement over email (assignments, etc.). I have a car so can travel in the Chicago area.

My proficiency level is beginner. I wamt to learn foreign language to have more career opportunities . I need particular improvement in all areas since I'm a beginner. In French I am at the Intermediate level. Swahili was my native language but I have forgotten most of it--so I would have to say I am a beginner. In Arabic I am also a beginner. I want to learn all of these language for my career in International Relations. If I find a serious teacher I am interested to dedicating a lot of time into accomplishing my goals. I want to learn excellent oral and written usuage of oall of the above languages.

I have studied French at the university level for 3 years. 4 years ago I spent a semester in France and was confidently conversationa l by the time I left, but have not had the opportunity to practice for the past year and a half. I have taken 1 year of Egyptian Arabic, but my primary focus at this time is to gain fluency in French, particularly on the topics of politics, economics, and law (the subjects I study at the university) through grammar study and conversation practice. I would like to begin classes at the beginning of February and conclude them at the end of April, perhaps 8 hours a week depending on cost.
