hello, iam looking for a teacher who is fluent in vietnamese and willing to help me learn this langauge, i travel abroad to vietnam for business and wish to be able to speak with people there, i would be a beginner and would be willing to do classes or private 2-3 times a week and continue till iam fluent as well, in looking around for a teacher i havent been able to find anyone willing to start and continue . i would be open to disscussing a timetable best suited for us both.

I'm a graduate student studying Women and Gender Studies with a focus on Asian countries. My family is Vietnamese and it technically was my first language until I lost it as I began school. I can understand it, more or less, in casual settings/at home, and can read beginner level things (I know my letters, accents, etc.), but my vocabulary is lacking and I have trouble speaking even the easy stuff. I would like to get to the point of reading the newspaper or fiction novels in Vietnamese someday. Reading skills are more important to me at the moment because I would, someday, like to use Vietnamese texts for my work in Academia.
I would dedicate an hour per week to lessons.
I would prefer a rather strict teacher (haha) that is communicative , and very knowledgeable about vietnamese novels, but the latter is not necessary at the moment.

I am married to a Vietnamese lady from Hanoi who speaks English fluently which is where in lies the lack of Vietnamese spoken at home. I want to learn to speak Vietnamese so I can talk with my Mother/Father in laws and relatives back in Hanoi. I also want my daughter to learn the language as well if we can both speak it at home.

I have been learning Vietnamese for over two years, mostly by self study and by using internet resources.
I am studying Vietnamese because I would like to eventually live and work there. I really love the culture, food, and people in Vietnam.
M y level of vietnamese is probably lower intermediate. I know quite a few words, but cannot as of yet formulate sentences too quickly. That's why I'm seeking a vietnamese tutor, so that I can have practice in actual conversations . Also, I need help with some pronunciation .
I would be interested in several lessons a week via Skype (or face to face if a tutor is here in Edmonton).
