Hi, my wife and I are both legally blind. We are planning to visit India over Dec / Jan later this year with guided assistance. We would like to learn some Hindi to help with the basics and if we can also learn some basics of the culture that would be useful as well. We live centrally in Auckland.

My wife's family's first language is Hindi (Fijian), and I would like to be able to better understand and communicate with them. I have practically zero understanding of Hindi, although I have been exposed to it for over two years now. I would like to spend at least one hour per week learning, but I am open to a longer session, as well. I will also set aside the requisite time to complete homework, etc. I would like to learn from someone who understands English well, especially an American accent. It would be optimal to work with someone who has an understanding of Fijian Hindi, as my wife's family is from Fiji and I've learned that there can be quite a difference between Indian Hindi and Fijian Hindi.
