Why you are learning your foreign language?:
As an American-born filipino, it has always been a personal goal to learn my culture's native language. Learning Tagalog is mostly for recreational use for conversations and writing letters with my family.
Yo ur proficiency level:
I am a beginner with knowledge of some common vocabulary. Also, by attempting to teach myself through the internet, I have knowledge of sentence structure (verb focus, case markers for nouns).
Th e areas in which you feel you need particular improvement:
I would want to focus on conversationa l aspects the most. However, proper grammar and writing practice will be greatly appreciated.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons?:
I want to spend 2-4 hours per week with a teacher. Based on my work schedule and the teacher's lessons, I plan on using an additional 2-4 hours of my personal time per week.
What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher?:
I have always enjoyed language classes because it seemed as if my teachers were having more fun than me. Therefore, a teacher who is more concerned about sharing language because of their passion for culture would be ideal. Also, I would like to meet a person who is an encouraging, kind, and motivated teacher who can adapt to my learning style.
I would prefer a local teacher, but am still very interested in online lessons. I am available for lessons any time after 7pm PST on weekdays. I also prefer Mondays/Wedne sdays/Fridays, but I am willing to be flexible.

A friend and I are traveling to Africa in the fall, so we're trying to learn French and Arabic before leaving. We're both beginners, familiar with only basic greetings and survival phrases. I'm a native English and Spanish speaker, and have a working knowledge of spoken and written Japanese. My friend is fluent in Swedish, Norwegian, English, and Spanish.
W e're hoping to dedicate a few hours a week in the evenings or weekends to learning Arabic, and the same for French as well. Ideally, we'd like a native speaker who can customize lessons for us, but we're completely open to classes or group lessons as well, especially if they are more cost effective.
