I wish to gain a proficiency in various Asian languages as a future career path and as language classes at institutions of higher learning for Cantonese and Korean are hard to find in my area, I feel this is a good step. I am from the United States and am going to be spending some time in South America. I have learned Spanish to a decent level, but do not speak any Portuguese. I would like to learn.
My best experiences learning have been immersive and intensive, and am looking for such instruction. I am not sure yet, but I may be in Manaus in December and would like to spend part of my time there learning my host country's language.

I am a total novice but my girlfriend, who is half Thai, understands only some phrases (but can't read/write). We would like to study together and would like to build a foundation in Thai.
Prio rity - conversationa l Thai but followed closely by reading and writing.
T ime - One hour per week, on Monday or Wednesday evening.
L esson structure - Well structured. Homework and worksheets that can be studied outside of the lesson.
Te acher - Good-natured and patient.
