Hi Annie,
My name is Jenny Wong and I am a mother of a 5 year boy - Ethan searching for Cantonese classes for him in Melbourne. I am married to Peter - fully Australian culture and have been speaking to Ethan in English although he does understands short words in Cantonese.
Due to the little demand for Cantonese I am unable to find an actual school that does a formal program unlike Chines Mandarin. I am now looking to get him personal tuition lessons so that he can learn the Catonese language through personal and fun activities. Overall I would like to be to able to understand and communicate and know his culture through my native language Chinese Cantonese.

I am expressing an intent to learn either the Cantonese/Man darin language for the purpose of both career advancement and also just for pure recreational acquisition of additional skill. My proficiency level is of course still very basic, if not below. If possible, I'd like to learn more with regards to both grammatical and conversationa l areas, and around 20 hours for the introduction or starter classes would be fine. I am a visiting Penang for three months (until end of April 2014). I am highly interested in learning Mandarin and the local dialect Hokkien. This is my second stay and I am a beginner.
I would now like to dedicate time during this period for a good start in learning Chinese, which I also would like to improve further by a regular training in the future.
I would prefer an intensive form of learning in person, ideally combined with the opportunity to learn about everyday's life and the Chinese and local culture. Learning Chinese characters is also an objective, at least with the ability of some basic reading.
I would appreciate to discuss a framework and concept for the learning period with the teacher.
