I am interested in learning Mandarin both spoken and written. I would be at a beginner level with a certain basic knowledge of the language (bare minimum vocab, knowledge of 4 tones, knowledge of stroke order, basic chinese history, above all a keen intrest). My reasons for wishing to learn mandarin would be for personal use, for travel, and also to a certain degree for professional use as I work in a cooking related industry and have a keen intrest in chinese and asian food.
I work as a freelance food stylist and have many hours available during the winter, less so during the summer. I would say that I am willling to dedicate 4 hours a week to classes, excluding homework.
I would be looking for a teacher with whom I feel comfortable, who is proficient and has teaching experience with whom the possibility of a flexible schedule could be arranged in view of my at times erratic work schedule.
