I am an absolute beginner.
I' m learning it because my girlfriend is Latvian and I would like to be able to communicate when we spend time there. I have been there a number of times--it is a lovely place and my visits would be enhanced by my being able to speak and understand the language.
I would like to dedicate half an hour a day to practice and I would consider having class once or twice per week.

Could someone please help me learn the Latvian language? I would like to go to my Mother's country and be able to speak the language using it in conversation. I will dedicate as much time that is necessary to learn. The qualities that I will be looking for in my teacher would be knowledge of the culture and slang if any.
I am looking forward to starting as soon as possible.

I am English, but have a Latvian girlfriend, who speaks English very well, but I wish to converse with her family.
Du ring August I shall be living in Riga, and wish to have a teacher who can give me an intensive learning course (evenings).
I am very much a beginner, with about 50 common words in my vocabulary only.
