Croatian was the first language I learned as a young child. I have not spoken it fluently in many years since moving back to the US. I would like to learn conversationa l Croatian. This summer I returned from three years working abroad in Japan. I consider myself to be at a high-intermed iate skill level. I would like to return to Japan, perhaps as soon as next fall.
More concretely, I would like to attend graduate school in Japan. Also, since the Japanese Language Proficency test will be offered in the summer next year, I am planning on taking 2 kyuu.
I would like to work with someone who can help me maintain or improve my speaking skills. Presently I can read Japanese publications and conduct many routine activites in Japanese. I can speak about various topics, however, expressing feelings and nuanced opinions is still sometimes difficult.
I would like to devote a few hours a week to study, but since I am busy with work, I feel as though working with another person will help me to feel more motiviated. Perhaps my teacher and I could meet once a week, and I can work on preparing an interesting story or news article to discuss as homework. However, I am open to new approaches and ideas in regards to language study. So all suggestions are welcome!

I have never studied Swahili before, and I would be beginning with no knowledge of the language at all. However, I am a masters student of International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, and therefore I believe that it would be beneficial for me to learn Swahili. I was actually a Spanish major with a French minor for my undergraduate , and I understand that I would have to spend a considerable amount of time studying and practicing, but my greatest consideration in a teacher is flexibility of schedule: in addition to taking classes I also work full time, and it is usually harder for me to find classes, as I am at work until 5:30PM.
