I'm a beginner and would very much like to learn Chinese and/or French. I'd like to learn Chinese in order to better study the culture as well as for potential career advancement. French I would like to learn for fun and for research purposes. I'd like to dedicate 1-4 hours a week on language lessons as well as individual practice/stud y time. I'm looking for a teacher that will be honest with me and help me learn a lot of information quickly. I am very driven to learn Mandarin and am very interested in it. I'm hoping lessons will help me in writing and speaking Chinese and possibly even prepare me to take a Chinese proficiency test.

i am a beginner to intermediate yr 10 student eager to learn mandarin, chinese as i wish to excel in my VCE studies.
My main focus is conversationa l and grammar techniques that i am most eager to gain a better understanding of.
i do not mind travelling to get to lessons and i am willing to dedicate approximately 2-4 hours of lessons per week.

I am a beginner. I want to learn Chinese (Mandarin)to boost my professional career in the global marketplace. I donot know where to start learning. Is it possible to learn from books or CDs or do I have to attend classes, I am not sure.
I can devote 4 hours a week for learning the langauage.
The qualities that I am looking for from the teacher / tutor are:
S/he should be sincere
S/he should be proficient / capable of teaching the language in constructive and logical way.
