Description |
I plan on visiting (and possibly studying in) Japan someday, and I want to be able to have a set background with the language, especially conversationa l. I'm 16 and not sure as to how that will affect me tutoring-wise , but I've always been able to make time for studying and I've managed to teach myself the katakana table. I just want a tutor or a class to help me along my way.

In my progiciency level of Korean, since it's my nationality and my family speaks it at home and such I can speak a little but I can understand hearing wise well and I can write well as well just not by memory...I know a little. Chinese...I took a class in my senior year which is this year and so I know the basics, Japanese I know nothing of and would like to learn it, and why am I learning a foregin langauge? well one is for Korean it's a personal thing talking to family members in korean instead of just english. Chinese is for business and Japense also. I would like to improve on my speech and vocab. I usually dedicate a lot of time...for example one time I dedicated all my time into Chinese and I failed almost all of my classes! Personally I would like a teacher to create interseting lessons...I would like to tell you for future reference that I tend to not care later on about my work and thats usually in the spring...I also wanted to point out that I rarely talk about it...Oh and if I learn the same thing over it won't help me at all.

Description |
I am an intermediate level student.
I have been studying Japanese for the last 2-3 years and have lived in Japan for 2 years. My level is interesting because I have advanced ability in some topical areas, but am missing substantial chunks of information in others. I am in need of listening skills and in need of natural expressions used by Japanese speakers (I do lots of direct translation.) In addition, I would love an overview of all Japanese grammar and especially when to use each tense.
I am learning Japanese because my boyfriend speaks Japanese and I would like to speak to his family. In addition, I would like to know enough to live in Japan comfortably and work a job at the university level (I am an ESL teacher and curriculum designer.)
I am willing to study privately, in person once a week and with a group or online twice a week. I would like intensive lessons now to jump start me for future independent study. I could do 1-2 hours for a private lesson and 1 hour for the other two classes.
I am looking for a teacher that is flexible and that would be able to help me come up with a plan of study. I have struggled with what to study and how for quite some time. It's especially frustrating for a curriculum development specialist. I would also like a teacher who makes me feel comfortable and not stressed out.
