I'm looking to learn Persian (Farsi) so that I can communicate better with my boyfriends family and friends, and so that I'm not completely helpless when we go to Iran next year. I have some (very limited) knowledge of Farsi, pretty much what i've learned online, mostly the alphabet and a few words.
I'm willing to dedicate most of my spare time towards learning Farsi, I'm working full time right now, but there is a lot of down time, which is when practice writing and memorizing the letters and such.
I'm the type of person who benefits from lots of hands on teaching, examples, exercises, tests, activities, etc. The more information I'm provided with, the better I learn.

Although I have studied Farsi for three years, I cannot speak and my reading is far below being proficient but I do have considerable knowledge of the language. I travel to Iran each year as a tourist and strongly desire to be able to communicate via conversation with my new friends. I also want to be able to read poets such as Rumi, Saadi and Hafez. I would like to meet at least twice weekly with a teacher. I need a teacher who really understands 'teaching.' And who is patient. I am 72 years old with some hearing loss. I want to see progress in my speaking ability.

My roommate and I are looking to learn Farsi. We are both beginners with no experience. Additionally, we are wanting to learn Farsi b/c we are both 1/2 persian and wanting to utilize this language as a career advancement. We are both currently in law school, so depending are where we would meet would depend on how many hours we can put in.
