I am planning to try working in Shanghai. To avoid a huge language barrier, I want to study speaking Chinese. I have had no lessons whatsoever so I will be starting from scratch.
I think my schedule can handle about 1-3 lessons per week. My time is not fixed so time for the lessons would vary.
I think I would be more interested in joining a small class rather than have a one-on-one tutorial.

I studied Mandarin Chinese for 2 years at my university. We learned mostly traditional characters, but I also can read/write a few simplified. My Chinese is degrading rapidly since I don't use it very often, and I would like to find a teacher to help me keep up my conversationa l skills as well as become better.
I think the traditional teaching method doesn't work for me. In school we were basically taught by brute force, i.e. rote memorization. We had to memorize 70-80 words every two weeks, not only the pronunciation but also the reading and writing. We spent practically NO time at all with conversation. I want to focus this time more on conversation and I will do the reading and writing by myself. Please contact me, even if my profile is old when you are reading this.
