Beginner level.
I would like to learn the Vietnamese language because my mother is Vietnamese and I never got the opportunity to learn the language. I'm currently building a closer relationship mother and have always wanted to learn to help me feel as one with my other half of my routes. I'm now 25 years old and have been longer to learn this since I my parents got divorced when I was 6.
I'm willing to dedicate 1 1/2 at least 3 times a week to learning.
Qu alities I'm looking for in a teacher is patience, ability to teach in the K.I.S.S. method! Keep - It - Simple - Stupid. :)

These lessons would be for my daughter. She is 9 years old and from Vietnam. We adopted her when she was 9 months old. She has a very high interest in learning her native language. She currently is able to speak Spanish as well as English. She is highly motivated and would take lessons 2 to 3 times a week.

I know perhaps two words in Vietnamese.
I am interested in learning for business and personal reasons. I have been in country and expect to return within the year, and would like to be able to get around a bit better this time.
I am particularly interested in being able to communicate appropriately in terms of address as well as comprehension with emphasis on business negotiations and conversation with women.
I also need to be able to read and write e-mails in vietnamese.
I would like to start with about three hours a week, preferably at lunch time or in the afterwork range.
I have had French, Spanish, Latin, and Arabic, but would not consider myself anywhere near fluent in any of them, and I have traveled overseas and am familiar with operating in environments where I am communication s challenged.
With regards to a teacher, someone with a good fluency in English will be better able to explain to me Vietnames langauge if they are familiar with English conjugations and grammer. I will use the books I have and am ordering to pick up as much of the grammar and vocabulary as I can.
A teacher with a professional background with some computer experience would be good as I will need to explain software and arrange network connections.
And last but not least, the teacher must have a good sense of nuances in discussion with women as I will need to discuss clothing, fabric, style, and associated issues.
I am hoping that we can use an immersion process which will be tough at first I know, but can be very effective.
Patience is going to be needed, as I have a very hard time with the tonal nuances which made Arabic and French difficult for me. I cannot carry a tune and have no musical ear or ability, but am determined to learn this language before I go back in country.

I will be arriving to Hanoi, Vietnam for about 9 days around October 7 or 8th, and I would like to take Vietnamese language lessons from a tutor and/or small class for 1.5-2 hours per day. I speak very little Vietnamese (mostly words and phrases), but I can understand some conversationa l Vietnamese. My reason for learning this language is that I am 1/2 Vietnamese and have never been taught the language. I would like to work on mostly conversation in addition to reading and writing.
