Hello!
I'll be on exchange semester at the Hogeschool Zeeland in Vliessingen starting from September 2004. As there is no possibility to continue my Mandarin classes at the HZ I'm looking for a native Chinese who can teach me 'Standard (Beijing) Mandarin'. Although I already had some 3 semesters of Mandarin lessons at my home university and a stay of 6 months in Shanghai I think I'm still at the beginner's level.
I'm looking for somebody who doesn't live to far away from Vliessingen and who can teach me approximately 2 times a week. My main focus is conversation as well as the gathering of new vocabulary.

My sister and I are currently looking for a proficient Chinese Mandarin teacher to help us learn the language. We studied in a Chinese school which help us identify words and a little of the pronunciation . However, we were only able to memorize very well and our grammar is not polished as well. I would say we only have a little above beginner proficiency in Chinese.
We wanted to learn Chinese because it is a part of our heritage, it will help us communicate with other Chinese, and it would be very useful in business.
We would need a very comprehensive lesson plan that builds from the ground up. We have learned Chinese in the old style, literature and memorization. We would like to have lessons that are engaging and also practical. We would like to learn the rules of grammar in the Chinese language, which is very different from English and also how to write and converse fluently.
Right now, we can devote weekdays one to one and a half hours thrice a week. In the event that we have a job already, then weekends would probably be the best time or evenings.
The ideal teacher is one who also understands the qualities of the young and how to teach lessons that will engage them. She could use differnt media (e.g. CD's, videotapes of Mandarin shows, or movies) to teach. She should also be organized with her lesson plans revealing a gradual improvement. Also, she should be able to give feedback on our progress. The teacher should also be able to converse well in English or Tagalog to facilitate our understanding . She should be open to questions, even the most basic, and answer without derision. She should also not charge too much since we are still young and without a source of income. She would ideally have flexible hours and a friendly, approachable nature.

My name is Mery Tandra. I am 22 years old. I just finished my degree course major in Business Information Technology around half year ago in Malaysia. As I feel that Mandarin language had become very important in this decade, thus I decide to deeply learning Mandarin language in order to prepare myself for future. For this time, I just can speak Mandarin in basic and in very simple way, can be said as beginner level. I am planning to learn in whole main area; grammar, writing, conversation, etc in around 1-1,5 years.
I am looking for dynamic and self-improvem ent lessons, while on the other I wish that a good, friendly and understanding teacher.
