Hello. My name is Shannon and I live in Thornhill Ontario. Both of my parents are Canadian and throughout my life I have only known how to speak English. I have also wanted to learn another language, but growing up I did not know which one would be the best for me to know.
For the past few months I have been dating someone who is Persian. I can proudly say I love him and I want to be with him forever. While we have been together he has taught me some Farsi but I would love to learn much more. I'm an eager learner and hard worker.
Si nce I do not know a lot of Farsi, it would be best if I start at a beginner level and I am willing to pay for a teacher with a university level of education.
I want to start off by learning how to have a basic conversation and slowly start working up to having more, which are more complex. I will dedicate as much time that is needed for me to improve in my language skills.
I hope I will be consider as a student because this is something that I really want to do and I will put all of my effort into this learning process.

I am a beginner when it comes to persian- the only knowlege that I have is the small amount I have learned from my co-workers. I work in a restoraunt where my co-workers all speak persian- and since i plan on staying there for quite some time (while i'm at school) I know it would make it more interesting/e njoyable to be able to talk in their native language. So far i've learned the alphabet and a few verbs, how to conjugate into basic past-tense as well as a couple of everyday phrases. I'll be using persian in a restoraunt so to be able to converse is my main goal- but I learn better when I know how things are written- so I would like to improve my reading/writi ng skills most. I will be going to university this fall, so until i find out how demanding my courses are, I don't know how much time I will be able to devote to learning persian.
I look for a teacher that can push me to do my best and lessons that are engaging and avoid the straight-from -the-textbook aproach.
