My father is Persian, now living in Iran; my mother is American. I grew up very American, and am now interested in learning more about my father and his language. I am pursuing college studies and Air Force ROTC, and would perhaps use Farsi in my Air Force career as well. I am a beginner. I am an average student, and so my interest in the language initially would be to understand it and converse in it, rather than to write it well. I honestly don't know how much time I will have or will need to progress in the language once you contact me; my schedule during school is much busier than in the summer; and I work hard at whatever I take on, but I've never learned a language before, so I don't know my aptitude for it.

I really want to learn lots of languages but these are the most important ones. I don't Know anything in French, Spanich, German or Farsi. I would dedicate all the time that it needs to learn a new language. I can arrange free transportatio n for the tutor(s).

Im a native speaker although I dont know Iranian dialect I speak Dari. Im learning Farsi in order to fullfill advanced level language requirements as stated by my campus. And I do need improvements in every area which includes vocabulary, grammer, conversation, etc. I can dedicate a couple hours per week to this and would like to have this done soon. I do need to take a final proficiency exam and present it to my campus.

I estimate that I am advanced intermediate. I study cultural anthropology, with a focus on Afghanistan. I am also quite interested in Persain poetry. I have a large number of oral history interviews I have recently conducted in Afghanistan I need to learn Farsi/Dari well enough to translate my interviews. I would devote substancial time to my language study especially if I had a teacher I worked well with. I am especially interested in working on listening comprehesion and conversation. I can read and write reasonably well.
