-I am learning Amharic to carry out research in Ethiopia.
-T hrough personal study of Colloquial Amharic I have gained a beginning knowledge. I can read and write the alphabet, know basic greetings, can clumsily compose sentences using present, past tense, gerundive, relative clauses etc. I spent a month in Ethiopia last summer and tried to practice there as much as I could. I'm determined to master the language and I believe I need a tutor to do so.
-I would dedicate an hour every week or every other week to lessons.
-I want a teacher with experience in teaching advanced level Amharic, who can collaborate with me in advancing my conversation to an intermediate level by December. I would like my teacher to set bench marks, and hold me accountable to completing certain assignments and memorizing certain aspects of the language by each lesson. I would also like someone who can work with the text I am currently using.

I have a great interest in the architecture of Ethiopia as it relates to one of the oldest civilizations of the world. I want to visit the country again but in particular, areas like Lalibela where I'm sure that English is not spoken frequentlly. At present my knowledge of Amharic is very rudimentary. I would like to achieve at least a level of conversation that would make an ethnic Habeshah feel comfortable in speaking with me. The quality of the teacher would of course be patience.

Im a 19 year old female attending a jc in oakland california> Ive always been interested in learning Amharic my.My boyfriend is Ethiopian and ive always though it would be cool to communicate with him in his native lanugage.Next summer we will be visting his family and i dont want to be completly forgein to the language.I really want to learn so im going to to put as much time and effort as possible i hope the teacher is fun patient and organized with the material he or she will present to me.It would be nice if the accent wasnt so heavy and i can clearly understand them ...I dont know the language at all so i wanna start of learning basic then as time goes I would like to advance more ...
