I am married to a Brazilian and I want to be able to communicate to the non English speakers in our family.
I know some words but I'm really a beginner.
I want to be good at conversation, not great at grammar but good enough to be able to communicate.
I was thinking 4-5 hrs a week to begin with and then 2-3 after to keep up my practice. I will be visiting family in June and want to be very good by then so I may devote more time if the teacher is good.
I want my teacher to understand my goals, listen and trully help me attain them. I like a clear, methodical approach to learning. I'm an engineer.

I am interested in learning Portuguese (particularly Brazilian protuguese) solely for personal interest. I can speak minimally, and already speak some French and Spanish which helps with learning. Reading is relatively easy. I woudl very much like to improve both my understanding of the accent (preferably Brazilian) as well as my vocabulary and ability to speak.
