In chinese I am a complete beginner, I know that nihao means hello, and thats it! I am going to be competing for a position in China at work.
In japanese I can hold a limited conversation with people about everyday life. I am/was right below sankyuu level when I left japan and I would like to get at least my sankyuu certificate.

I was an intermediate level Chinese Mandarin student who has not used the language in over a year. I would like to increase my proficiency level in order to meet career goals within my current job. In order to do so, I feel I would need to improve my conversationa l ability and grammar skills. I would be able to devote a maximum of 4 hours face-to-face time, and several more hours self-study time per week. My instructor must have a sense of humor and patience to deal with my many questions!

I am an intermediate Mandarin speaker with basic reading and writing skills. I lived and worked in Taiwan for 18 months in the mid-90's and have since taken a couple of Chinese language classes (2nd and 3rd year) at Pasadena City College. I want to improve my spoken Chinese and learn how to read a newspaper. I would like to find a teacher who will keep me on a steady pace but tailor the lessons to my needs. I would be interested in in-person lessons, possibly with phone/interne t-conference based supplements. I am interested in using simplified characters and focusing on business-rela ted vocabularies.
