My name is Dariek. I was in Japan for a year (from 2001-2002) and loved it. I was able to learn the language very quick, accelling from hiragana to katakana, and eventually kanji. I'm honestly willing to spend as much time as possible to return to my former level of understanding of the language, hopefully to return in the near furture.

I am a complete beginner. I am, however, an avid fan of Japanese films, so the sound and intonation of spoken Japanese is familiar to me; I've even picked up a few words of vocabulary. I am mostly interested in being able hold a conversation in Japanese, for possible future travel to Japana, but I am also interested in grammar and the structure of langauage. I could be available for one lesson per week. Obviously, I would like a teacher who is thoroughly familiar with the language, though a native speaker is not necessary. Patience and the ability to explain the same thing several different ways until the student 'gets it' is important to me.
