In September, I will be back at Laurier University in their languages program. I have always wanted to learn Irish as it is my main ancestry. After school, I want to do some sort of job that uses languages and I have a particular interest in trying to revive Irish. I have only learned very little that I have read on the internet, but I would rather be able to hear things first hand from a speaker.

Hello Instructors,
I would like to learn Gaelic (Irish) out of respect for my grampa, his country and of course my heritage.
My knowledge is likely less than beginners, I can recognize the language when spoken and can pick out a few words from time to time. I was just a child when I heard it spoken.
It would be my goal to have some small conversationa l skills, I would be prepared to dedicate an hour or so each evening. Both looking at the written language and proper pronunciation . I tend to be a strong visual and to a lesser extent audio learner.
Personally I think and instructor with patience would be good.

Hi there,
I completed an undergraduate degree with a minor in Celtic Studies a number of years ago...a degree that did not require me to learn Gaelic. I am fascinated by Celtic myth, mythology, history, and music, and continue to study these topics up to present day, but I feel that without any knowledge of the Gaelic language, that I am missing a profound aspect of the culture. I have family roots in both Ireland an Scotland, and would love to be able to have some Gaelic available to me when I finally do have the time and means to visit/live for a time in one or both of those countries.
My proficiency level is beginner.
I would be most interested in learning conversationa l Gaelic, but also am interested in learning the more refined aspects of the language.
I would be able to dedicate a few hours per week to my lessons.
I n terms of a teacher, I would want someone who is flexible, patient, encouraging, supportive, good-natured, passionate about the language they are teaching, and someone who would be reliable.

I am a beginner who has look at learning on line but cant find anything suitable. I am in the process of tracing my family on the Isle of Skye and want to learn so I can read what has been written and would one day like to take a trip there and think it would be benifical. I am learning Irish Gaelic from research that my family background dates back to Irish roots. I wish to keep that language alive in my life. I am at a beginning level, because I have only started to look and study this language. I feel I am in need of all areas, particularly where to start and how to build-up my skills in this language. I am free on the weekends and during a few hours in the day, throughout the week. I am a visual learner, so I am looking for a teacher to help me in that manner by applying a technique to suit my learning.
