I am interested in learning Dutch for personal reasons (I met a Belgian woman and learning her native tongue is integral to our relationship) . From January 2016 to July 2016 I was living in Belgium and didn't take advantage of my opportunities to learn while I was there. I have learned a bit online on the Duolingo website but know I am better suited to in person lessons. As a certified english teacher I understand the amount of effort required to properly learn another language.
I am now back in Canada and looking for a teacher (either 1 on 1 or in a group) to learn the language with on a regular basis. Although I have learned some of the basics I would still consider myself a beginner. Conversation is my main interest although I am willing to learn whatever the teacher feels is appropriate. I am a kinesthetic/t actile learner. I want a teacher that is patient but also stern when necessary.
Currently I am not very busy as I am going back to school in the fall (early September) but wish to continue to learn the language once it starts. From now until then I have the time to learn at an accelerated rate (5-8/wk) hrs, but will have to slow down once school starts (2-5/wk)

I know enough Cantonese to get by in Hong Kong. However I cannot understand the Cantonese sermons very well at Ottawa Chinese Alliance Church. I learned the Cantonese I know now by cds and self-learning , but don't know how to read and write Chinese characters.
