I am working with minority communities and I wish to learn the language as part of that role plus I have a genuine desire for cross-cultura l communication . I am seeking an experienced and qualified tutor for private lessons although small group lessons would also be fine. I would like weekly or bi-weekly lessons starting as soon as possible.

I am half Bengali - my father is Bengali. I never learnt to speak the language properly, although I can follow conversations pretty well and understand about 85%.
I would like to learn Bengali properly - construct grammatically correct sentences, learn to read and write in the next 4 months as I am fed up not being able to communicate with my family in Kolkata and don't want to be reliant on their translation skills. I am interested in theatre and art and would like to read Bengali literature, see Bengali films and visit Bengali theatre and understand the language completely.
I can dedicate 2 - 3 hours per week to this process.
I am looking for a teacher who can teach me the Bengali spoken in West Bengal, NOT BANGLADESH. My learning style is that I like varied approaches and I would like my teacher to think about various ways to keep me interested and give me new challenges every lesson.

I am pretty much a beginner in the language. My mother is from Bombay but my grandparents live in Calcutta so I have been around people speaking both Hindi and Bengali and can understand more than I can speak. I want to learn so I can speak to my grandparents and family more when I visit.
I would like to dedicate about an hour to an hour and a half a week on the lessons.
