Description |
I am a beginner, although I have looked at various resources online and in text. My reasons for learning: 1) I wish to have a career in Linguistics 2)Welsh caught my eye as a beautiful and unique language. Spoken conversation is hardest for me when learning a new language (I have been learning French for several years). I would dedicate as much time as possible to learning the language, particularly if taught in person (this method is more engaging and motivating, although text and online methods are helpful as well since I am a very visual learner). I would like to have a native speaker for a teacher, but that is not necessarily a deciding factor.

Description |
I'm a beginning student, who has been trying to learn Welsh at home - with various software resources - but my most significant learning has been that nothing beats a traditional class, with other students.
My primary interest is that of 'keen tourist', but the guidebook gimmick of trying to learn set phrases and hoping that the natives reply with a stock answer is, well, a gimmick. An ability to have (and understand!) impromptu conversations with native speakers would be great! Written comprehension , of course, goes hand-in-hand.
Ideally, I would join a weekly, evening class (3 - 4 hours) accompanied with several hours of homework, every week. A twice-weekly class of shorter duration would also be manageable.

Description |
Just moved to Seattle and thought since I was in a major metropolitan area, there might be some resources for learning Welsh. I'm a perennial beginner (been stopping and starting and learning amazingly little over the past five years) and I'd really like to move forward.
Just curious to see if there were any Welsh speakers or events in the Seattle area!

Description |
I enjoy learning languages as a hobby. I am mainly interested in the following: Swiss-German, Welsh(advance d, need to work on fluency and vocab), any Scandinavian language(I'm conversationa l in Danish), any Slavic language(1 year of Russian, happy to learn more or another language), Finnish, Hungarian. I am a fast learner and very much enjoy learning grammar.
I have taught and tutored German(attend ed German school as a child, BA in German). I specialize in explaining the grammar to students who have trouble understanding it.
The qualities I am looking for are friendly, encouraging sessions for a reasonable price, a teacher who knows well and can explain the grammar, and someone who is flexible as I don't always want a rigid lesson plan.
If this is you, please contact me, even if for another language than I indicated above.

Description |
I am engaged to a man living in East Sussex, who is originally from Wales. His family lives near Swansea, and I would like to learn some conversationa l Welsh. Iw ill be traveling there for a month immediately after Christmas, and I thought 6 month would be enough time to at least get a start...I learn languages very quickly and I am a good student.
I have given the language a good look, and it will be a challenger for me, as it is not a romance language. The pronunciation aspect will be the most difficult for me. Is it possible to place individual letter sounds into IPA? I am fluent in that, andit would greatly help me.
I am in graduate school right now, but my spring term is nearly complete, and Iw ill not be in classes over the summer, so you have my undivided attention.
The things I am looking for in the lessons are practically applied conversationa l material. I am in need of a teacher who is patient and up for an interesting student.
