My name is kayla, and i would like to learn mandarin.. It is a language that has always facinated me, and in today's world, the better you can communicate with a wide array of different people, the better equipped you are in many areas, including, but not limited to jobs and travel. i have tried on my own to learn mandarin from programs such as rosetta stone, but don't feel as though i am getting as much from it as i would from one on one learning with another person. ideally, i would like at least one lesson a week to ensure a higher rate of renention of the lessons. i am not sure what kind of lessons will work the best for me. i have taken classes for other languages before, but in a large class, there is a different set up from a one on one setting. regardless i am confident in my abilities to take in the information given to me.

I want to learn Japanese because I am interested in the culture and also I have been trying to teach myself.
My proficiency level would be beginner.
Th e areas in which I feel I need particular improvement would be in everything.
The time I would like to dedicate to lessons would be about once a week of not twice a month.

I'm a beginner in learning Japanese. I am doing the Rosetta stone learning process but would also like someone in person to teach me. I want to learn Japanese because I like their culture and would like to someday visit Japan. I think that if you go to a different country you should be able to speak enough of their language to communicate with the people there. I'm willing to give as much time as the teacher would be willing to. I also would like to be able to read Japanese too.

I want to learn more than 'where is the library?' and 'Maria has a book' I realize I must start somewhere, but I want lessons to be practical, and something that I will utilize as foundational. I want a teacher who is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated student!
I have more experience with French and would love to grow in that before i try to tackle another language, are there any native speakers out there??
