I've taught myself japanese for around 4 years, and i should be better than I am, lack of disipline and routine! I learn quickly, and have a good grasp on the language so far, i just need more verbs, and conversation. and as far as hearing someone speak it goes, I can type it better?

My proficiency level is beginner, and a friend of mine who wants to learn with me is intermediate. I want to learn Japanese because I am going to apply to the Jet Program for 2007. My partner is planning on spending a lot of time in Japan while I am there and has been teaching herself Japanese on and off for 5 years. We are both willing to dedicate at least two to three days a week learning. We are both willing to travel to Orlando to learn. We are serious! My proficiency levels in all three languages I want to learn are probably ranked at different places in the beginner stage.
The reason I want to learn these languages is for both my career and my own enjoyment. I really am interested in learning as many languages as I can, but the ones I chose are the most important to me.
I would say that I need vast improvement in all aspects of the languages. As I stated before I am only a beginner. Although, I think I have the best understanding of the French language out of the three I am learning.
At this point I am not sure how much time I can devote. I would like to use as much time as possible to learn these languages.
I have had teachers at high school and college and they teach straight out of a book. I would like to see a teacher that has their own developed way of teaching, I can read a book myself.

I'm an advanced student of Japanese though there are many words that I don't know and I still require some thinking time when conversing. I lived in Japan for two years teaching English and just returned to America about a month ago. At this point, I am not planning to use Japanese in a future career, but things may change in the future. I have a very strong interest in learning Japanese and have been studying it for 9 years now. I would really like to work on Japanese conversation once a week for 1-2 hours. I don't require a text book (don't mind one either), just someone to talk to in Japanese as much as possible. I'm interested in music, movies, comics, sports, dancing, animals...etc . These would make great topics. I'm looking for a teacher who won't let me speak any English during the lesson and who will explain words, mistakes...et c in Japanese only.
