Hi my name's Rebecca Thomas and I am a beginner to the Chinese Mandarin language. I want to learn the language because I have quite a few Chinese friends who's english is poor and I wish to communicate with them more. I want to learn to speak the language fluently and also write it fluently and I'll need to start right at the beginning.I wish to spend as much time as it takes me to learn the language. I wish my teacher to be helpful and I wish to gain the quality of speaking and writing Mandarin Chinese

I consider myself to be a beginner although I know a few simple phrases.
I want to learn mandarin because my girlfriend is chinese and I think that it is only fair that I should be able to speak chinese with her. I am very keen to learn for this reason.
I would like lessons for maybe 1 evening per week and I am looking for mainly verbal skills and grammer but would also like to learn chinese characters. I am looking for a relaxed but focused approach to the lessons.
